WMSOn Wednesday,May 24, 2017,  Washington Middle School hosted a Multicultural Festival for students and the community of Harrison, in order to appreciate and recognize all of the diverse cultures that exist in our "one square mile" town. Involvement from a diverse group of  students and club members helped to promote the acceptance and understanding of all cultures.

Organized by Washington School teacher, Mr. Uril Parrish, the event featured international cuisine and traditional dances performed by adults and children of all ages. The dancers and performers did an extraordinary job and everyone in attendance agreed that the food was delicious!  The performances were exceptional and captured the essence of cultures. The following dance styles were alive at the festival: Modern, Salsa,  Capoeria, Marinera, Portuguese Folk Dances, Caribbean Dances, Chinese Traditional, Hip-Hop, Pop, African, Samba, Contemporary, Reggae,  and Soca.

Mr. Parrish would like to extend a special thank you to all the students, parents, and community members who supplied and enjoy the foods, desserts, and drinks of the various cultures presented at the festival. A special "Thank You!" also, to Washington Middle School teacher, Ms. Tara Kraenzlin, for capturing the spirit and the beauty of the event in the accompanying photographs!
