The 8th grade members of Washington Middle School's Student Leadership Team have been working hard on their first bulletin board of the 2023-2024 school year, in honor of Week of Respect. They have highlighted respectful actions they would like to grow at WMS and some negative things they would like to leave behind.

NBC News Education Nation live stream event on Thursday April 14th 2016.
On Thursday, April 14, 2016, Harrison Public Schools hosted a live streamed discussion forum for the Hudson County Social Emotional Character Development (SECD) Consortium. Community members in attendance engaged in a digital discussion with other communities nationwide surrounding the NBC Education Nation broadcast, "Supporting Our Students: It Takes Everyone".
Over 100 students, parents, community leaders and educators took part in the discussion, organized by Joan McNichol, Director of Student Life and Services and moderated by Erin Bruno, facilitator for the Rutgers University Academy for Social and Emotional Learning.Monica M. Tone, Interim Superintendent for Hudson County Office of the New Jersey Department of Education and Patrica Pope, Interim Child Study Team Supervisor for the Hudson County Office of the New Jersey Department of Education attended the event and spoke on behalf of the Hudson County SECD Consortium. Also in attendance were Dr. James P. Doran, Harrison Public Schools Director of Personnel and members of Harrison's Town Council, Carol Mandaglio and Larry Bennett. Steve Lipski, Vice Principal of Harrison High School, Michelle Lopes Washington Middle School Counselor and Jackie Collard, Child Study Team Transitions Coordinator attended the event and greeted parents and students as they shared refreshments and perspectives. Harrison Public Schools would also like to thank the moderators of Kearny High School's REACH program for the enthusiastic participation of their students!
On Wednesday, March 23,2016, Washington Middle School organized an Internet Safety Night for parents, featuring Detective Brian Kearns from the New Jersey State Police's Digital Technology Investigative Unit.
